World of Anterra Guides

Practical routes through the systems 81monkeys has described. Anything that depends on a build nobody has played is marked as expectation rather than advice.

How to read a guide for an unreleased game

Two kinds of page exist for a game that has not shipped: ones that describe what the design rewards, and ones that pretend to know the optimal route. The second kind is fiction with a confident tone.

Everything in this section is the first kind. Each page is built from the developer's own system descriptions and public footage, and each one says at the top what it is based on. Where a number is unknown, the page says unknown rather than filling the gap.

What this means in practice

You will not find a level-by-level walkthrough here before launch, because nobody has played the game outside the studio. What you will find is more durable anyway: which actions the systems pay for, in what order, and why.

81monkeys describes exploration as the core pillar, and treats interaction — breaking, cutting, looking — as the verb that carries it. A guide that tells you to slow down and hit things is not padding; it is the design.

Beginner guide: the first hours is the entry point, ordered by what pays off soonest. It leans on the breakables system and water, which are the two most documented mechanics in the game. If you are still deciding whether to follow it at all, start with the release facts.
