World of Anterra Release Date: 2026, No Day Yet

2026 release window, no day, no price, no demo. Everything else you see online is either an aggregator placeholder or a 2022 Kickstarter estimate.

Last updated:

World of Anterra is due in 2026 — and that is the entire publicly confirmed answer. Steam lists the year with no day, no price, no pre-order button and no demo. No 81monkeys announcement has named a date, as of 27 October 2026.

That is not a researching failure on our side. It is the current state of the store page, and it is worth understanding why, because most pages answering this question fill the gap with a guess.

What the store page actually contains

The Steam app for World of Anterra (appid 2402470) returns a release object with coming_soon: true and the string 2026. There is no day, and there is no price object at all. A store page that has a price but no date looks different from this one, and the difference matters: no price usually means the store entry has not been finalised for purchase yet.

The wishlist figure is the one number here that is not on the store page, because Steam never publishes it. It comes from 81monkeys' own announcement, which is also the reason we treat it as the only reliable demand signal for this game.

Why there is no date yet

The developer has been unusually direct about the constraint. In the 24 August 2026 announcement marking 150,000 wishlists, they wrote:

"We're putting everything we have into this game, which leaves nothing for marketing at this time. So hitting 150,000 is a big deal for us and a reflection of our community's support."

An earlier post, when the count passed 80,000, used the same framing: the wishlists kept growing "despite not having the budget for any paid marketing."

A studio in that position does not usually announce a date until the build is close to content-complete, because a slip costs the goodwill it cannot buy back with ads. What the public record shows instead is a steady sequence of systems posts through the first quarter of 2026 — water, tools, explosions, palette swapping, tutorials, breakables — and then milestone posts rather than release posts.

Confirmed· Game director Stephane has been writing Founder's Journals since January 2026. Three have been published; none names a release date.

What people mistake for a release date

Three things get quoted as dates, and none of them are:

  • A 31 December placeholder. Stores and databases sometimes render a year-only value as the last day of that year. If a listing shows 31 December 2026, that is a formatting artefact, not a plan.
  • The 2022 Kickstarter estimate. The campaign ran in 2022 and its messaging mentioned a much earlier window. That window has passed, and the store page has been updated since.
  • Console platform lists. Some databases show PlayStation, Xbox or Switch availability. Steam lists Windows only, and 81monkeys has not confirmed console versions since the Kickstarter. Our platforms page keeps those two states separate.

What is already known about launch features

A date is not the only thing people want from a launch question. Two answers are settled:

Co-op is in at launch. Steam's category list includes Co-op, Online Co-op, Shared/Split Screen Co-op and Cross-Platform Multiplayer. That is a first-party statement on the store page, not an interview quote. The co-op page covers what four players means and what is still unconfirmed.

Combat is not turn-based. 81monkeys describes grid-based tactical movement combined with quick-time actions. Several outlets label the game turn-based, which changes what you expect from the first fight. The combat page breaks that down.

How this page will be updated

When a date is announced, this page gets rewritten the same day, and the old text moves into a dated correction block rather than disappearing. Until then, the honest version is the one above: a year, a wishlist count, and a list of things that are not dates.

We check the store API for this page; the snapshot behind every figure here is dated 27 October 2026.

Has a release date been announced for World of Anterra?

No. Steam lists 2026 as the window, and no announcement from 81monkeys has named a day. Anything more specific you see elsewhere is an estimate or a placeholder.

Is there a price yet?

No. The store page has no price and no pre-order option, which is consistent with a release window that has not been narrowed to a date.

Is there a demo?

Not on Steam. There is no demo app and the full store page lists no trial. The team referred to a Kickstarter backer demo while building features in early 2026, but that was a backer build, not a public download.

Will it be on PS5 or Switch?

Not confirmed. Steam lists Windows only. PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Mac and GOG appeared in 2022 Kickstarter messaging and have not been reconfirmed since.
