World of Anterra Wishlists: 80k to 150k in 2026
Three milestones in under three months, and the developer's own note that there is no marketing budget. This is the only public demand signal the game has.
Last updated:
World of Anterra passed 150,000 Steam wishlists on 24 August 2026, after passing 80,000 on 29 May and 100,000 on 8 June. All three figures come from 81monkeys' own Steam announcements. Steam itself never publishes wishlist counts, so these are the only first-party numbers available — and nobody has published a figure since August.
For a game with no release date, no price and no public demo, wishlists are the whole demand picture. That is why we keep them as a dated table rather than a sentence that goes stale.
The three milestones

| Date | Wishlists | What the post said |
|---|---|---|
| 29 May 2026 | 80,000 | "This couldn't have happened without the support of our wonderful community" |
| 8 June 2026 | 100,000 | "100,000 is such a big milestone for our team!" |
| 24 August 2026 | 150,000 | "We're putting everything we have into this game, which leaves nothing for marketing at this time" |
Eighty thousand to a hundred and fifty thousand in under three months is the shape of a game that got a store page refresh and a trailer in front of the right audience — a second trailer went live on 26 May, three days before the 80,000 post.
Confirmed· The 24 August 2026 post is the most recent wishlist figure published. No milestone post has followed it, so 150,000+ is the current official floor, not a live count. Why the marketing line matters more than the number
Read the 24 August quote again. A studio saying it has "nothing for marketing" is telling you two things at once:
The growth is organic. Wishlist velocity here is not bought. That matters for a site like this one, because organic wishlists translate into search demand from people who arrived without a sponsored nudge.
There will be no big official push at launch. A studio with no marketing budget usually has no official wiki either. That is the gap this page exists in: when a game launches with 150,000 wishlists and no wiki, the queries are created within days and the sites that answered them first keep the traffic.
We wrote about the same mechanic on five other sites: the wiki query family converts at roughly 16% when no dedicated wiki exists at launch, and near zero once one does. This game is still in the first state.
What the other 2026 posts covered
Wishlist milestones are the small part of the announcement history. The rest is systems documentation, which is what you would expect from a team spending its time on the game rather than on ads:
| Date | Post |
|---|---|
| 14 Jan | "Welcome to 2026…the year of Anterra?" — the Founder's Journal series begins |
| 20 Jan | Founder's Journal #1 |
| 21 Jan | ICYMI: Teaser Trailer |
| 22 Jan | Gameplay Features: Breakables and non-combat mechanics |
| 26 Jan | Gameplay Features: Tutorials |
| 28 Jan | Founder's Journal #2 |
| 19 Feb | Founder's Journal #3 |
| 4 Mar | Gameplay Features: Palette Swapping & Pixel Art Magic |
| 6 Mar | Gameplay Features: Explosions, Boom Baby! |
| 10 Mar | Gameplay Features: Tools That Power Anterra — Part 1 |
| 12 Mar | Gameplay Feature: The Way of Water |
| 26 May | Live YouTube Premiere of Trailer 2 |
| 8 Jun | Developer Fireside |
| 9 Aug | Live Fireside and Q&A |
Two things stand out in that list. Every post is a first-party post — the Steam feed for this app is not diluted with press-release reposts, which is unusual and makes it a usable source. And the cadence drops sharply after August: milestone posts and event announcements only, no systems posts since March.
Reading the silence
Three interpretations are available, and only one is checkable:
- They are heads-down building. Most likely, and consistent with everything said about the production situation.
- They are preparing a date announcement. Possible; no evidence either way.
- The project stalled. Contradicted by the August post, which describes the team's best period rather than a wind-down.
We track this by watching for store page changes rather than by interpreting tone. The release date page records the store state and updates the same day anything changes.
The numbers we will not print
- A live wishlist count. Not published, so any specific figure appearing between milestones is an estimate, including ours.
- Sales expectations. Wishlists are not sales, and conversion varies too much between genres to model honestly.
- A launch window narrower than 2026. That is the store page value, and the platforms page is where the adjacent unknowns live.
How many wishlists does World of Anterra have?
150,000 as of the official announcement on 24 August 2026. That is the most recent published figure; there has been no milestone post since.
Where do the wishlist numbers come from?
From 81monkeys' own Steam announcements. Steam does not publish wishlist counts on store pages, so there is no independent source to cross-check against.
Do wishlists mean the game is popular?
They mean 150,000 people asked to be told when it ships, which is a demand signal and not a sales figure. Conversion from wishlist to purchase varies by genre and price.
